Karma

One of Newton’s Laws of Motion states that “for every action, there is an equal and opposite reaction”

I believe this is applicable to each of us, and our interactions with others.  Simplified this means that anything, and everything you do has an impact on your universe.  Like rocks dropped into a lake, each action you take starts a ripple that expands beyond you and out into your universe.  These ripples then return to us shaped and influenced by the people and events they have touched.

In the case of our actions, I believe the ‘ripples’ we create are governed by the law of ‘karma’:

Karma (Sanskrit: from the root kṛ, “to do”, [meaning deed] meaning action, effect, destiny) is a term that comprises the entire cycle of cause and effect. Karma is a sum of all that an individual has done, is currently doing and will do. The effects of all deeds actively create present and future experiences, thus making one responsible for one’s own life, and the pain in others. In religions that incorporate reincarnation, karma extends through one’s present life and all past and future lives as well.

Each action we take based on its intent and our intentions returns as a reflection of itself. If we undertake evil, then we create ripples of evil that expand out from us and then return to us as evil. So it is with kindness and love. We never know when or exactly how our actions will return, but we know for each action there will be a reaction … that’s karma.
